Nairobi, Kenya, 21st August, 2015 – Organized by the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) the Global Peace Foundation participates in the \”Innovation Stakeholders Workshop\” to strategise on possible ways to partner with other organizations from different entities to empower and support innovations among the Kenyan Youth with the aim of curbing the high unemployment rate in the country and also promoting the use of technology is addressing challenges in our society today.
Leveraging on GPF\’s robust work in innovative initiatives such as Leap Hubs and the Greenhouse projects in primary schools mainly focusing to improve the Kenyan Education System, GPF was selected to contribute to the issue. Representing the Global Peace Foundation, the Executive Director, Kenyan Chapter Mr. Daniel Juma enumerated the work the organization does to transform education. Through Leadership and Entrepreneurship program, Mr. Juma pledged to encourage students to come up with a mobile application and a website that would link young innovators in the blue collar job market with potential clients. The application dubbed #FindanArtisan is currently being developed by Leap Hub students with assistance from computer science students at Maseno and JKUAT universities.
The stakeholders resolved to come up with strategies to help commercialize innovation in the country. These strategies would be handed over to the President of the Republic of Kenya for implementation.
